Reno Pallet Rack
Carton Flow Rack in Reno, NV
Carton flow presents cases or totes at a hand-picking face while replenishment takes place behind it. Inclined wheel tracks bring the next carton forward. For e-commerce, the system is useful when repeated picks justify a dedicated face rather than searching through reserve storage.
Industrial-supply distribution in Lemmon Valley, apparel and outdoor goods at Stead and fulfillment at TRIC in McCarran all raise different pick-face questions. Nevada’s Freeport law supports large inventories serving out-of-state markets; separate that reserve cube from the quantities needed at the picking level.
Build the pick face from order data
Start with SKU count, carton dimensions, pick frequency and replenishment quantities. Fast-moving items may need wider or multiple lanes. Slow movers should not receive the same frontage simply because the frame has another available bay.
Lemmon Valley’s Military Road and Lemmon Drive distribution buildings have big-box layouts. A carton-flow area needs clear connections to reserve pallet storage and outbound staging, not just a dense run of hand-pick levels.
Carton behavior sets the track arrangement
Check case bottoms, tote feet, weights and sizes. Track spacing and incline must let the intended containers move without hanging up or accelerating unchecked. Dividers preserve lane assignment when nearby cartons differ in width.
Choose pick elevations from the actual tasks and container weights. Keep repeated heavy picks within a suitable working range and reserve higher levels for an explicitly planned access method. Carton flow is a picking tool, not a reason to make every level a hand-pick face.
Connect fulfillment to North Valleys reserve
Stead’s Moya Boulevard and Echo Avenue buildings commonly offer 30 ft clear, with newer North Valleys stock at 36 ft. Use that height for reserve pallets where the forklift can reach them, while positioning replenishment so it does not cross active picking work.
At TRIC, replenishment volume and account separation can matter as much as case movement. Plan installation by pick zone, with staging adjusted for the region’s summer heat and winter cold in ambient buildings. Test representative cartons through the completed lanes before handing over the pick map.
