Reno Pallet Rack
Pushback Rack in Reno, NV
Pushback stores pallets on carts running along inclined rails. Loading a new pallet pushes the earlier loads backward; removing the front load lets the next cart move forward. The forklift stays in the aisle, and each lane works last in, first out.
Food and beverage shippers in Spanish Springs, 3PL distribution at TRIC in McCarran and consumer-goods operations in Stead can compare pushback against single-deep rows. Nevada’s Freeport law supports large inventories held for out-of-state shipment, but lane depth still has to match the pallets actually carried per SKU.
Density starts with the SKU count
Do not select deep lanes from a peak pallet total alone. List the normal and peak pallet quantities for each item and identify which loads can share a lane. Many nearly empty lanes can erase the expected storage gain.
Food and beverage inventory needs a clear rotation decision. Pushback is not pallet-level FIFO. If lots must leave in arrival order, compare a pallet-flow arrangement rather than expecting drivers to solve a lane-access limitation.
Cart travel, load weight and reach
Confirm pallet construction, width, depth, overhang and weight range before selecting carts and rails. The pallet must seat correctly on the cart, and the assembly must be rated for the loaded configuration. Mixed loads may require separate lanes.
At Stead, buildings on Moya Boulevard and Echo Avenue commonly run 30 ft clear, with newer North Valleys space at 36 ft. Beam elevations must still follow the actual truck reach and loaded pallet height. Keep enough aisle space for a square approach without entering the rack.
Reno staging and lane handover
High-desert summer heat and winter cold matter when planning crews in mostly non-air-conditioned buildings. Establish the material staging area and row sequence before the work starts, then check cart travel with representative loads during handover.
A TRIC or Spanish Springs plan may combine pushback reserve lanes with selective access for short runs. Compare pallet positions, usable pick faces and the number of inventory moves, not density in isolation.
